Creating An Open Cabinet Look

I have always loved the look of open cabinets. To me, they not only seem inviting and let guests feel more at home they are a wonderful way to show off beautiful dishes when you are low on space.

This space from Miss Mustard Seed has always caught my eye and although we rent so are not able to paint our cabniets I knew there was a way could get the look for our little kitchen.

Here is our kitchen last Spring. We have very small space but still love to entertain and have guests over frequently.

To achieve our open cabinet look I just removed the screws holding the doors. It honestly took two minutes and has made such a difference. I think the space now feels larger and more inviting.

To make the cabinets have a more finished look I decided to add wallpaper to the back. We had a roll of vintage wallpaper we had from a previous project so decided to try it out. I loved the look but decided was too dark for our cabinets.

After searching online I decided to go with this contact paper I found on Amazon.

I used poster putty to attach it to the cabinets without causing damage. This way it is easy to change out or take down when we move.

I think they look so much brighter and add charm to our dated cabinets.

Now guests and our little ones can easily find what they need and our kitchen looks a lot more open and inviting.

Thanks for stopping by!
